🌊 v2.3.4 — Messages you can actually read August 8, 2026

🆕 New

  • All of this is the web client — play.oceanbite.app, sign in with Discord and it's the same angler, same money, same fishdex. Nothing about Discord changed in this update.

⚙️ Improved

  • They are bigger on a desktop, too. The text was set at the size used for table rows, which was a poor fit for something that disappears after five seconds — and a long message now wraps into a proper block instead of stretching into a thin strip across the corner.
  • Tap or click one to send it away early if it is in your way, and screen readers now read them out as they arrive.

🐛 Fixes

  • The little notes that pop up when something happens — a sale went through, a cast failed, wages are due — never appeared at all on a phone. They sat in the bottom corner of the page, which is exactly where your browser puts its own toolbar, so they were behind it every time. They now arrive along the top of the screen, where nothing covers them.
  • When several turned up at once they landed on top of each other, so you could read the newest one and nothing else. They stack now, one above the next, and every one of them stays readable for as long as it is up.

🌊 v2.3.3 — Counting the front door August 6, 2026

🆕 New

  • None of this touches Discord, as always. Playing with slash commands involves no analytics at all.

⚙️ Improved

  • The visit counter now covers oceanbite.app as well as the game — the front page, Features, the changelog, and the policies. Until now it watched only the game itself, so we could see people playing but had no idea whether anything out front had helped them find it.
  • Both addresses share one counter deliberately, so landing on the site and clicking through to play is counted as one visit rather than two strangers who happen to look alike.
  • Our Privacy Policy section 5 is now called *The Website* and covers both addresses. It names all three services and what each one sees: GitHub serves the information pages, Cloudflare carries the game, Google counts visits across both. What is *not* sent has not changed — no Discord name, no user ID, nothing from your save file.

🌊 v2.3.2 — Exactly what the counter sees August 6, 2026

🆕 New

  • None of this touches Discord, as before — it is the web client only, at play.oceanbite.app. Playing with slash commands involves no analytics at all.

⚙️ Improved

  • Last update said the web client counts which screens get used. It now does that properly: every screen is counted on its own, where before the whole game registered as a single page. It also notes the *kind* of thing a button did — *bought something in the shop*, *launched a voyage*.
  • Our Privacy Policy says exactly that now, in section 5. What still never leaves: your Discord name, your user ID, and anything from your save file — no fish, no balances, no inventory, no results. The counter is told that something of a certain kind happened. It is not told what it did, what it was worth, or whose it was.

🐛 Fixes

  • Signing in used to leave your one-time Discord authorisation code sitting in the address bar, where the visit counter would have filed it away with the rest of the page address. Sign-in now moves you off that address the instant it is done, so the code is never written down anywhere.

🌊 v2.3.1 — A note on the small print August 6, 2026

🆕 New

  • Our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service have been updated. The web client now counts visits — how many people open it, and which screens actually get used — so we can build on the parts you use instead of guessing.
  • None of this touches Discord. Playing with slash commands involves no analytics at all — this is the web client only, at play.oceanbite.app.

⚙️ Improved

  • What it doesn't include: your Discord name, your user ID and your gameplay data are never sent to the counter, and the two are never joined up. Nothing new is stored about you and nothing about the game changed. The policy has a new section 5 setting out exactly what is seen, by whom, and how to opt out if you'd rather not be counted.

🌊 v2.3.0 — A menu you can take in at a glance August 4, 2026

🆕 New

  • This one is the web client — play.oceanbite.app, sign in with Discord and it's the same angler, same money, same fishdex. Nothing about Discord changed in this update.

⚙️ Improved

  • The web client menu is two rows now instead of one long strip. The top row keeps the places you go most — Fish, Sell, Shop, Quests, Boosts and Skills — alongside a button for each group: Activities, Gear, Profile, Collection, World, Compete and More. Tap a group and its screens open on a second row underneath.
  • A group takes you straight in rather than making you choose twice, and it remembers where you were. Leave Activities on Voyages, wander off to Fish, tap Activities again — you are back on Voyages.
  • On a phone the whole top level now fits on screen at once: two short rows of icons, instead of swiping sideways through thirty tabs to reach the one you wanted.
  • Badges still find you when a group is closed. Activities carries the total of everything waiting inside it — two dishes finished in the Galley and a voyage leg arrived shows as a 3 — and opening it breaks that down onto the screens themselves.

🌊 v2.2.1 — Your angler, at a glance August 3, 2026

🆕 New

  • Both are on the web client — play.oceanbite.app, sign in with Discord and it's the same angler, same money, same fishdex. Nothing about Discord changed in this update.

⚙️ Improved

  • The web client header now carries your level and a progress bar toward the next one, right beside your money and crystals. Every catch, sale and claim moves it — so you can watch a level arrive instead of opening Profile to find out how close you were.
  • That's your real Discord avatar up there now, instead of the placeholder circle everyone was sharing.

🌊 v2.2.0 — Nothing slips past you August 3, 2026

🆕 New

  • The web client now puts a red badge on any menu tab with something waiting. Two dishes finished in the Galley, a voyage leg arrived, three quests ready to claim — you can see it from wherever you are, without opening nine screens to find out.
  • Badges know the difference between a job and a discovery. Galley, Voyages, Quests, Fishing License and Boosts count real work waiting and clear only when the work is done — glancing at the Galley won't make a finished dish stop reminding you. Shop, Relics and FishDex flag something new and clear as soon as you look.
  • Playing in Discord instead? Everything above lives on the web client — play.oceanbite.app, sign in with Discord and it's the same angler, same money, same fishdex. Nothing about Discord changed in this update.

⚙️ Improved

  • A badge appears the moment it becomes true. Sit on any screen while a dish is cooking and the Galley count ticks up on its own the second it is done — no refresh, no waiting for you to click something.
  • The Shop badge follows your level, not your wallet: it appears when a new rod or boat tier unlocks for you, so it means "something new is here" rather than flickering every time your balance moves.

🌊 v2.1.0 — Clan war rooms & a clearer locker August 3, 2026

🆕 New

  • Every clan now gets its own private war room — a thread off #start-fishing that only the clan can see. Summon a raid and the call to arms lands there; when the boss goes down, the payout lands there too. Your clan hears about the fight instead of the whole server.
  • Not playing on the web yet? play.oceanbite.app — sign in with Discord and it's the same angler, same money, same fishdex, same clan. The gear and crew improvements above are web-only; everything in Discord works exactly as it did.

⚙️ Improved

  • Raid announcements used to end up in #start-fishing for everyone, or in the summoner's own private thread where clan-mates couldn't even see the ping. Both now go to the war room. Clans that already exist get one automatically on their next summon — there's nothing to set up.
  • Your gear now says what it actually does. Every rod, boat, bait, pet and charm in Gear and the Shop on the web client shows its benefit right there — 23 fish/cast · ×2.9 money · ×1.8 weight — instead of leaving you to guess. Rods and boats had never shown their stats anywhere on the web at all.

🐛 Fixes

  • Hiring crew on the web client was stuck at 5-minute shifts. All four lengths — 5 minutes, 15, 30 and an hour — are now on the Crew panel where you would expect them, for hiring and extending alike, each priced for the crew size you pick.

🌊 v2.0.0 — Fish anywhere August 2, 2026

🆕 New

  • OceanBite now has a website you can play on: play.oceanbite.app. Sign in with Discord and you are the same angler — same money, same fishdex, same clan, same everything. Nothing to install, and Discord carries on working exactly as it does today.
  • Casting works properly in the browser: cast out, watch the water for a bite, and reel at the right moment. The same patience, the same cues, the same relics — just on a bigger screen.
  • Everything else came with it — your gear and the shop, quests and skills, the fishdex and relic gallery, dives, the galley, bounties and voyages, your clan and the Clan Hall, tournaments, leaderboards, the world boss and prestige.

⚙️ Improved

  • Anything other people can change updates itself while you watch. A tournament board climbs as rivals turn in fish, a world boss loses health as the server piles on, and your clan, party and community goal all move without you touching a thing.
  • Fish across several servers from the one page — pick which server you are in from the header, and the leaderboards, tournaments and goals follow you there.
  • Every setting from /settings came along too, including a proper way to delete your account and everything in it, should you ever want to.

🌊 v1.8.0 — A line in the water, everywhere July 28, 2026

🆕 New

  • OceanBite now speaks up in servers that never set it up. When something genuinely rare happens — a one-of-one relic surfacing, a world boss appearing, a tournament finishing, or a server hitting its community goal — a single announcement lands so everyone knows the ocean is out there.
  • Tap Cast your first line on one of those announcements and you get your own private fishing thread on the spot — no admin setup, no cluttering the channel. Exactly what /setup servers already give every angler, handed out on demand.

⚙️ Improved

  • These announcements are deliberately quiet: at most a few a day, never an @everyone, never pinned, and only for the rare stuff. Any admin can switch them off for good with one tap. Servers that have run /setup are completely unchanged — the full activity feed carries on as before.

🌊 v1.7.1 — Play the moment you land July 28, 2026

⚙️ Improved

  • /setup is still very much worth running — it gives every angler their own private fishing thread, a live info board and an activity feed. It just is not a gate on playing any more.

🐛 Fixes

  • OceanBite now works the moment it joins a server. /fish — and every other command — used to answer "OceanBite isn't set up yet" until an admin ran /setup, so most new anglers were turned away before their first cast. Now you can fish straight away, in any channel.

🌊 v1.7.0 — The Prestige Ladder July 28, 2026

🆕 New

  • Prestige finally has a home in the menu — find it under 🧭 Profile, no typing required.
  • /prestige is now a proper hub. The opening screen shows the multiplier you're earning right now, exactly what the next tier grants, what you'd restart with, and how close you are to every requirement.
  • Browse the whole ten-tier ladder before you commit: every tier's money & XP multiplier, the card accent and badge it unlocks, and how many Prestige Trials it asks of you — then inspect any single tier for the full breakdown, including live progress on its Trials from wherever you stand today.

⚙️ Improved

  • Prestiging now takes one deliberate click from the hub before the confirmation appears, and backing out returns you to your progress screen instead of a dead end.

🌊 v1.6.1 — Deep Dive economy tuning July 20, 2026

⚖️ Balance

  • Deep Dive money rewards and the entry fee now both scale with your prestige and level. Higher-progression divers earn (and risk) proportionally more, so dives stay worthwhile at every stage instead of becoming a money fountain at high prestige.
  • The deepest hauls were reined in so a max-depth run is a great prize rather than an economy-breaking jackpot, and bust salvage now tops out around 35% of your cargo (down from 50%) — so pushing deep stays a real gamble.

🌊 v1.6.0 — Deep Dive, reborn July 20, 2026

🆕 New

  • Deep Dive now runs all the way to depth 50, with real treasure the whole way down: every level drops goods — fish, bait, Sea Crystals, exotic fish and rare unique ingredients — on top of your money haul, and your dive card shows the cargo you've gathered so far.
  • Every 5th depth throws you a Situation: five hatches, four holding rewards and one empty. Pick one to claim its loot, then choose to press deeper or surface.
  • Dive proficiency — the more you descend over your career, the safer every dive becomes, and the more you salvage if you bust.
  • New ways to dive safer: three bust-reduction charms in the shop, several deep-sea pets, and three new Galley recipes (Diver's Stew, Angler's Deep Feast, Pressure Tonic) that cut bust chance and boost dive loot. The strongest bust pets can only be won from Deep Dive Situations.

⚖️ Balance

  • Busting no longer wipes your whole haul — you keep a share of your money AND goods (10% at first, climbing toward 50% as your proficiency grows).
  • The bust curve was reworked so early depths are more forgiving, while depth 50 is a genuine gear-and-mastery endgame goal rather than an impossible wall.

🌊 v1.5.0 — Prestige gets serious July 5, 2026

🆕 New

  • Prestige Trials: from Prestige 2 onward, prestiging takes more than level 100 — each tier adds an escalating checklist (FishDex species, Bounty Rep earned that prestige, voyages, legendaries, shinies, Galley dishes, Deep Dive depth, and full biome FishDexes). /prestige now shows live progress on every requirement.

⚖️ Balance

  • Each prestige journey is now genuinely longer than the last: XP-to-level requirements grow every tier, so your permanent multiplier no longer makes re-leveling faster each time. Your very first prestige is untouched.

🐛 Fixes

  • The /prestige confirmation card no longer claims your FishDex resets — it has always survived prestige, and now the card says so.

🌊 v1.4.3 — Smoother crew catch-up July 5, 2026

🐛 Fixes

  • Hired crew and Voter's Deckhand shifts with a very large backlog (e.g. after the bot was offline for a while) now settle over a couple of casts instead of all at once. You'll still get every cast's loot — it may just take a /fish or two to fully catch up.

🌊 v1.4.2 — Fairer crew earnings July 2, 2026

🐛 Fixes

  • Hired crew and Voter's Deckhand now correctly credit boost and cooked-dish bonuses for however long they were actually active during the shift — even if you don't check back in until after they've expired.

🌊 v1.4.1 — Unlock alerts everywhere July 1, 2026

🐛 Fixes

  • Level-up unlock alerts now fire no matter how you leveled up — filling a bounty, claiming quests, or landing a voyage boss will notify you the same way casting does.

🌊 v1.4.0 — Ready-to-collect alerts July 1, 2026

🆕 New

  • You'll now get a message in your private thread when a cooked dish is ready to collect, or when your voyage's next leg (or the boss fight!) has arrived.

🌊 v1.3.0 — Level-up unlock alerts July 1, 2026

🆕 New

  • Leveling up now sends a message in your private fishing thread listing what just unlocked — new rods and boats to buy, new biomes to explore, or features like exotic fish, charms, and prestige.

🌊 v1.2.1 — Cleaner chest loot June 30, 2026

⚙️ Improved

  • Chest rewards on your catch card now show XP with a "+" (e.g. "+616 XP"), so it no longer blends into the coins amount next to it.

🌊 v1.2.0 — Dive again June 30, 2026

⚙️ Improved

  • Deep Dive result cards (surfaced or busted) now have a "Dive again" button, so you can start a new dive straight from the result instead of reopening the menu.

🌊 v1.1.0 — Changelog launch June 30, 2026

🆕 New

  • OceanBite now has a changelog! Update notes post in the community announcements channel, are browsable with /changelog, and live on the website.

⚙️ Improved

  • Casting reveals a one-time “Check line” clue during gamble cues, and only shows the button when it can actually help.
